Brothers Matt & Scott Tribute

July 21st is a solemn date for the members of Contra Costa Professional Firefighters Local 1230. It is the day we remember our brothers Matt Burton and Scott Desmond. On this date in 2007 Matt and Scott were killed in a residential structure fire in San Pablo. There is not a day that goes by that we don't remember our brothers. Firefighter Helping Others Off Duty

Daniel Andrade, a local firefighter who recently graduated from the Contra Costa County Fire Academy is helping his community in more ways than one. In December, Daniel and 14 other fire academy recruits signed up for the “Be The Match” bone marrow registry where volunteers are placed in a donor registry in hopes that their bone marrow can be matched up to someone who has been diagnosed with life threatening blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma. Bay Area Firefighters Rally to Aid Cancer-Stricken Vacaville Girl

VACAVILLE, Calif. (KTVU) – Firefighters from across the Bay Area are rallying to aid a young Vacaville girl who has a bright smile and a tough fight ahead. Miley McCrary, a 6-year-old who sometimes just goes by Smiley Miley, has been diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a bone cancer that is threatening to take her arm.
