Contra Costa Firefighters Recognized for Lifesaving Actions


Firefighters from Contra Costa County Fire Protection District were recognized for their lifesaving efforts in October when they entered a burning residence in Concord and rescued two women. Fire Captains Chris Leimpeter, Chris Christensen and Firefighter Nick Long were honored by the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors today at their board meeting. CCCFPD Engine 88 Rescues a Citizen from Early Morning Fire in Antioch

At 0648 hours on November 16th CCCFPD Engine 88 was dispatched to the report of a structure fire in Antioch. Upon their arrival they had heavy smoke and flames coming from the first floor of a 2 story residence.   With a quick investigation the Fire Captain found a citizen who was in need of rescue from the 2nd story window. The crew snapped into action and were able to rescue the citizen from a ladder. Great job to Engine 88 and all other fire crews on scene at the early morning fire.

Early Morning Rescue in Antioch on October 27th, 2011

In the early morning hours of October 27th a residential structure fire occurred in Antioch. Alarm came in at 0038 hours in Station 81's area. Upon arrival Engine 81 had heavy smoke & flames coming from the front of the structure and immediately went to work. After a quick knock down and a primary search a victim was located by Firefighter Cahill. The victim was found unconscious and with agonal respirations. Two Residents Rescued from Burning Home in Concord - Official Press Release from CCCFPD Fire Marshal

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a fire in a single family home in the 3700 block of Bon Homme Way in Concord at 1:30am this morning. While responding, fire crews were advised of occupants still inside the structure.
